How to find a computer name
Follow these steps to report a computer name to the IT Dept when needed:
Windows method 1 (Windows 10 or newer):
- Click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of your screen.
- Type "Computer name" or "View your PC name".
- Click on "View your PC name".
- Report the "Device name" to the IT Dept.
Windows method 2:
Open File Explorer on your computer.
Open File Explorer on your computer.
- On the left pane, find "This PC" or "My Computer"
- Right-click on that.
- Choose "Properties" from the menu / list.
- Look for "Device name" or "Computer name". It may be something like "PF-NF-MINI-1" or "GB-NATFOOD4", etc. It may also have "guidos.lan" in front of it.
- Report the computer name to the IT Dept.
